Lou Castillo (1982) is a Costa Rican contemporary ceramic artist and researcher, known for her exploration around the concepts of landscape and identity. 

Her career has shifted from a functional approach to an artistic perspective. Guided by conceptual experimentation, and a continued desire to uncover resonant relationships, between familiar landscapes, others and ourselves. 

Lou Castillo´s latest work utilizes natural patterns and local materials, confronting both the possibilities and limitations of clay; a path inspired by experimentation and the challenges that come with it.

Her collections are both intimate and dynamic, striking a balance between the artist’s interest in traditional Costa Rican ceramics and modern design.
